Earthwatch Corporate Partner, AIG

AIG

AIG is a leading global insurance organization with operations in approximately 70 countries and jurisdictions. AIG is committed to making a positive difference for their colleagues and in the communities where they work and live.

Earthwatch has partnered with AIG since 2021 to engage AIG employees with nature-based programs that address some of the most pressing environmental challenges we are facing today. Two of these challenges are addressed in programs about air quality and pollinator decline. 90% of people are exposed to unhealthy air. AIG employees participate in Operation Healthy Air to collect air quality data and increase their scientific literacy on air quality. By acting as citizen scientists, AIG employees provide additional air quality data to scientists to help provide solutions in order to improve air quality for all.

In addition, AIG employees participate in Global Pollinator Watch, a home-based citizen science program, designed to equip participants with the training and resources they need to collect data that will help us to better understand pollinator presence and diversity around the world. The project allows AIG employees to collect data on the pollinators in their backyards, neighborhoods, or in pockets of nature where they work or travel. The data collected is used to track changes in the critical timing of pollinator activity , and ultimately, to help reduce pollinator decline.

AIG’s partnership with Earthwatch encourages meaningful engagement for our colleagues on global environmental issues, empowering them to take action in their own communities.”

YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

Earthwatch depends on donations—above and beyond what we raise from volunteers who participate on our expeditions—in order to deliver our global conservation mission. In fact, volunteer contributions provide only half of the total resources Earthwatch needs to sustain over 40 field research expeditions, a wide variety of educational programs, corporate sustainability trainings, and more each year.
